Imagine the transport of the future contest

The EADS Foundation introduced its Imagine the Transport of the future contest in 2008. In a nutshell, it asked secondary-school students to look at science from a different angle and to think together about air travel and transport tomorrow, as engineers do.

Their mission: To imagine, think about and propose a new and futuristic air transport concept taking into account technical constraints as well as safety and environmental dimensions.

During this adventure, the classes are supported by their teachers, students and EADS ambassadors.

They will be granted exceptional access to the Group's facilities. Experts on the topic will explain, inter alia, how a propulsion system works and how composite materials are designed. With such an experience, ideas are bound to take off!

This operation ultimately aims to nurture scientific and engineering vocations by rekindling young students' interest in science, by making it fun. In that sense, it is entirely in line with the goals that the EADS Corporate Foundation has set.

The Foundation organised its Prize Ceremony in June to reward the projects that the students had been working on throughout the previous year, and to share their educational experiences.

Five Prizes will be awarded: the Top prize, Special prize for the best application, Special prize for the best blog, Special prize for the best visual and Special prize for the most original idea.
